About

Sugarhouse Design and Architecture is a full scale New York City based architecture and interior design firm founded by Principals Jess and Jonathan Nahon. Sugarhouse offers full service architectural, interior design, and landscape design, with work spanning residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality projects.

Sugarhouse is a balanced and approachable studio focused on holistic design, placing equal emphasis on architecture, interiors, and landscape. Each project is considered from a singular, integrated viewpoint to ensure that the work is contextual, original, and grounded in the realities of how spaces are used and built. Design decisions are guided by proportion, materiality, and long term functionality rather than trends, with the goal of creating work that feels considered, personal, and enduring.

Our process is collaborative and highly engaged. We work closely with clients to understand functional requirements, priorities, and constraints, and we view our role as guiding decision making and translating ideas into buildable solutions. We are experienced in balancing differing viewpoints, strong opinions, budgets, and construction realities, and we believe clarity and thoughtful guidance are essential to a successful outcome. As a husband and wife team, Jess and Jonathan bring a steady, communicative approach that extends to clients, consultants, and every member of the project team.

Sugarhouse works on projects throughout the United States and internationally. Former clients include YSL, Cult Gaia, Space NK, Helmut Lang, Theory, J Brand, Comptoir Des Cotonniers, Tory Burch, Misha Nonoo, Purificacion Gracia, La Mer, Osswald Parfumerie, KREWE, Veronica Beard, Soho House, The Ned, The Hoxton Hotels, Ralph Lauren, and others.

Sugarhouse is an award winning firm, receiving an Interior Design Best of Year Award and NYCxDESIGN Award for the Cult Gaia New York City and Miami projects. The firm is part of the AD PRO Directory and its work has been featured in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Dwell, Surface, WWD, Hospitality Design, Galerie, Dezeen, Domino, New York Magazine and The New York Times.
